Social frames & direct canvas control

Added
  • Visual frame gallery. Nine preview cards make every option visible before selection: frameless, macOS light and dark, Photo Feed, Micro Post, Professional Update, Story, Short Video and Carousel.
  • Six original social layouts. Platform-neutral post designs with editable display name, handle, caption, professional role and carousel count—familiar without copied branding or assets.
  • Direct four-edge canvas resizing. Drag the top, right, bottom or left edge to change the outer background while preserving the screenshot's rendered size. Keyboard controls and live dimension announcements are included.
  • Twenty-one local wallpapers. Abstract macOS-inspired color flows and Windows-inspired scenes join the existing gradients, patterns, Auto palette, uploads and image URLs.

  • Capture Visible Area now preserves the complete browser viewport instead of center-cropping it to 4:3 before the editor opens.
  • The wallpaper picker now expands to its natural full height instead of using an internal scrollbar.
  • The right customization inspector now fills the available viewport height while keeping tabs and export actions visible as the active controls scroll.
  • Manual canvas dimensions and exact content width persist across editor sessions and exports.

  • Seventeen additional curated gradients. Color-faithful tributes to familiar macOS and Windows wallpaper palettes expanded the collection to 31 gradients.
  • Ratio-locked area capture. Hold Shift while dragging for 4:3 or Alt for 16:10 selections.
  • Tabbed controls. Background, Frame, Annotate and Style organize the editor while Copy, Share and Download stay within reach.

Discoverability & onboarding

Added
  • One-click toolbar menu. Click the Screenshot Framer icon for a quick menu — Capture area, Capture full page, or Quote card from selected text — no right-click needed. The context menu still works exactly as before.
  • First-run welcome page. A short, friendly walkthrough on install: how to pin the extension and the three ways to capture, so new users aren't left guessing.
  • Clearer capture errors. Trying to grab a page that can't be captured — like chrome://, the Web Store or the PDF viewer — now shows a plain-language message instead of failing silently, with an icon badge as a fallback. Dragging too small a selection tells you to drag a larger area.
  • Review prompt. A one-time, easily dismissed nudge to leave a review after a couple of successful exports — never on your first.
  • Optional usage analytics — opt-in and off by default. If you choose to turn it on from the welcome screen, Screenshot Framer sends only anonymous event counts (e.g. a capture started, an export finished). Your screenshots, page content and URLs are never sent. You can turn it off again anytime.

Customize panel & the feature pack

Added
  • Customize panel. A floating sidebar puts every tuning control — annotation tools, radius, shadow, aspect ratio, watermark, edge rulers — in one place. Light and dark theming throughout.
  • macOS Safari Dark frame. A dark companion to the original Safari frame. Pick light or dark from the frame dropdown.
  • Quote-text framer. Right-click highlighted text and the selection becomes a typography-styled quote card with the source URL — perfect for Pinterest, Instagram, blogs and newsletters. Five fonts (Georgia, Playfair Display, Nunito, Caveat, Dancing Script), text color, background color, a Glass slider for partial wallpaper bleed-through, a None toggle for a full cutout, and an optional decorative quotation glyph.
  • Annotation toolbar. Ten drawing tools — rectangle, diamond, ellipse, arrow, line, pen / freehand, text, step counter, insert image, eraser — plus a color picker and Clear All. Keyboard-driven.
  • Draw-to-redact. Drag anywhere on the canvas to draw blur or solid blocks over sensitive info — emails, API keys, account numbers, anything you don't want shipping. Click a block to remove it.
  • Custom watermark. Your text, your opacity, four corner placements. Persists across exports so your work stays credited.
  • Custom aspect ratio. 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 1:1 and MacBook presets, plus a free-form input for any size you need.
  • Pattern backgrounds. Thirteen new pattern fills — dots, grid, diagonal and horizontal lines, stripes, diamonds, checkerboard, plus, triangles, chevron — joining the curated gradient set.
  • Auto background. A single click samples colors from your screenshot and generates a matching backdrop.
  • Color picker tool. Click anywhere on the canvas to extract a color; copies as HEX, RGB, HSL or OKLCH from a floating chip.
  • Edge rulers. Horizontal and vertical canvas rulers for pixel-precise alignment, toggleable from the panel.
  • PDF, SVG and Print export. Single-page PDF (no external service), SVG vector container for Figma and Illustrator, and a native print mode.
  • 4K, 8K and custom-width export. Joining the existing 1× and 2× Retina presets, with a separate JPG / WebP quality slider.
  • 13-platform share menu. Native compose flows for X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Reddit, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and Email. Image lands on your clipboard, the platform opens.
  • Drag-and-drop & clipboard paste on the result page to swap the framed image without re-capturing.

  • Result-page background and layout refresh — softer canvas tones, hairline borders, and consistent dark/light theming throughout the new customize panel.
  • Quote-cards, screenshots, pasted images and dropped files now share a single render pipeline.
